If you cannot visit Buenos Aires, the next best thing is to attend tango festivals where you can dance with some of the best dancers around the world. Here are some of my personal favorites.
March 29 - April 1, 2007: Atlanta's Southern Tango Social - a relatively new festival, similar to the Denver festival attended by lots of great dancers and teachers.
May 24-28, 2007: 7th Annual Denver Memorial Day Tango Festival - the classes mostly focus on close embrace / milonguero style, but the main feature of the festival are the great milongas including the best outdoor milonga in the US. Denver has one of the friendliest tango community many great local dancers. Denver also hosts a very similar event during the Labor Day weekend.
August: Seattle's Annual Summer TangoMagic - One of the biggest tango events of the year, with great teachers, DJs and live music.
October: Portland's Annual TangoFest - it is probably the biggest and longest running festival in the US.
December 27-30: The 10th International Tangomagia festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands - It is not a US event, but it's probably the biggest tango event in Europe featuring the best teachers and live music from around the world.
